Will the NEET syllabus change in 2026? Complete official guide
The NMC officially released the NEET 2026 syllabus on 22 December 2025 — and it is identical to the rationalised syllabus in use since 2024. This guide covers what the syllabus contains, what was deleted, the full chapter list for all three subjects, exam pattern, re-exam update, and a clear preparation strategy.
Will the NEET syllabus change in 2026? The direct answer
No. The NEET 2026 syllabus has not changed from 2025. The National Medical Commission (NMC) released the official NEET 2026 syllabus on 22 December 2025 — and it is identical to the rationalised syllabus that has been in use since 2024. No new topics have been added. No previously deleted topics have been brought back. The same holds true for the re-exam on June 21, 2026.
Many rumours circulated on social media and Telegram groups claiming syllabus changes. All of these are false. The only reliable source is the official NMC website (nmc.org.in) and NTA’s portal (neet.nta.nic.in). This guide gives you the full picture — what the current syllabus contains, what was deleted in earlier revisions, and exactly how to prepare.
The big picture — what changed in 2023 and why it still matters in 2026
In 2023, the NMC rationalised the NEET syllabus to align it with the updated NCERT Class 11 and 12 textbooks. Several topics were removed to eliminate repetition and reduce unnecessary burden on students. Those deletions are permanent and continue to apply in 2026.
Students who are comparing old coaching notes or pre-2023 study material with the current syllabus will notice these differences. The 2023 rationalisation was a one-time structural change. From 2024 onward — including 2025 and 2026 — the syllabus has remained stable. There is no new deletion or addition for 2026.

Preparation strategy for NEET 2026 re-exam (June 21)
-
1
Revise NCERT line by line — do not skipOver 95% of Biology questions and a majority of Chemistry questions come directly from NCERT text, examples, diagrams, and footnotes. Read each line carefully, including seemingly minor details like specific names, values, and exceptions.
-
2
Do not study deleted topicsSolid State, Surface Chemistry, Hydrogen, s-Block, Polymers, Chemistry in Everyday Life, Communication Systems, Reproduction in Organisms (asexual), Strategies for Food Production, and Environmental Issues are out. Use that time for high-weightage chapters instead.
-
3
Take one full mock test per weekSimulate real exam conditions — 180 questions in 180 minutes. Analyse each test: identify weak chapters, slow question types, and where negative marking is costing marks. Fix these specifically before the next test.
-
4
Biology is your highest-return subject360 marks — half the paper. A student who scores 300+ in Biology and 200+ combined in Chemistry and Physics is on track for 500+. Prioritise Biology diagrams, definitions, and exception-based questions from NCERT.
-
5
Solve at least 10 years of previous NEET papersNEET repeats concept patterns, not exact questions. Previous year papers (2015–2025) tell you exactly which sub-topics within each chapter are frequently tested. Do not ignore questions that seem easy — they are where most marks are actually lost.
